Max, also known as Masatrox, is the drummer in a progressive rock band called Brother Ape. They released six albums on the Progress Record Label between 2006 and 2013. Additionally, their album “Karma” was released in 2017 through Freia Music. Max is also involved in a book project with guitarist Stefan Damicolas. Together, they wrote an adventure story titled “The Year of the Blow Fly”.

The Masatrox project began in 2018, drawing inspiration from old Nordic sagas. The musical style shifted toward a more guitar-based sound during a period when Max lived in exile without a keyboard. In 2024, he returned to his main habitat and began recording new material.

started playing drums early, around the age of 6.

*I took drum lessons from Bas Ludde and Victor Montero during the 70s as a young kid.

*I secretly tried out my sister’s piano during the 80s.

*I played with bands like Aristo Cats, Abduhlas Profeter, K.B., Astral, Grand Salad Band, and Little Orchestra during the 80s and with Brother Ape in the 2000s.

*I had some solo projects on small platforms during the 2000s, including Mono Pelada Project and El Meccatrox.

*In 2018, I started Masatrox with a zero-budget, creating two albums using only keyboards, drums, and mouth harp.

*In 2021, I bought a cheap electric guitar for 800 SEK and tried to learn while composing new songs. I also purchased an inexpensive dreadnought guitar, but it became unusable due to damage.

*In 2022, I acquired a budget-friendly electric bass for 1200 SEK.

*In 2023, I received a well-used Epiphone bass from Fredde. Thank you!

Suddenly, my living space feels cramped, but I have plenty of material to work with. I plan to release a summer album and a winter album 2024.
